Being a Dad is easy but being a good Dad is difficult. One of the things that I do with my children on their birthdays is volunteer as a Watch D.O.G.S. Dad at their school. To my own children they think it's a cool thing for their dad to be on their school campus being seen helping out and playing at recess; they even receive an incentive from the school call a Stinger Buck. Initially I thought my kids would have tried to monopolize my time but the opposite is true, they were content to give me a hug/highfive then see me interacting with their classmates which is the real reason the program exists. One of the men who has been active with this program stated three reasons for participating: "1) It gives me a backstage pass to my daughter’s world, 2) It allows me to have an impact on other children, and 3) My children are watching me. " Stuarts blog can be found here. I am not sure which of these three are most important; it probably differs each day with specific circumstances.
